All that I'm after is a life full of laughter.
Daughtry. Out of my head. Though maybe this is better than Papparazzi.
Fic Rec #1: I'm a lucky girl. I bought three drabbles from
sabaceanbabe in
help_haiti's second lightning round, and I (predictably) asked for Kara gen (read: Kara/Awesomeness), Kara-Helo, and Kara/Sam. With no other prompt besides "please don't make them too depressing, 'cause this week has been kicking my ass. Oh, and if you could have Kara and Helo patch things up after IIASOS, that would be swell." Well, she wrote them and they are gorgeous. Go read them, I'll wait.
Fic Rec #2: I also won a full-length story from
lls_mutant in the big auction and oh my god, it's already more than I was even hoping for. I actually can't tell you what my prompt was, because it spoils the end, but the genesis of the idea was that someone on my flist had mentioned something they would have loved to see in the finale involving Dee and Cally, and when I read it I wanted to WEEP for the FORSAKEN AWESOMNESS. And having already read one fabulous, tightly constructed AU of hers, I knew if anyone could make that awesomeness a reality it would be
lls_mutant. Lesson learned: Fanfiction beats the hell out of crying about it. ;) Let me just say that if you're a fan of Dee and/or Cally,and/or female characters who got a raw deal getting their own back, you will love Not Where I Belong. Kind of appropriate given recent discussions, too. Now this is the kind of subversion of the narrative I can get behind.
Funny rec #1: Also also, on the off chance anyone hasn't seen this yet, Michael Trucco is a funny, funny man. Have his take on filming sex scenes (snerched from
greycoupon and
taragel, from this interview:
It's always awkward man. It's a choreography, it's a dance. Depending on who's directing it. Whatever level of interaction you have with the director. If it's Eddie Olmos he's right there going, "There you go, yeah. I'd move her hair; slide your hand down. Nice." You're like, "Dude, you're creeping me out. You need to stand away." Eddie just gets into it. It's an awkward situation to be in.
HEE!
And a meme: Comment with the name of a (or some) female character(s) and I'll tell you why I love her. In return, you can do the same in your journal. :D
